So you just purchased your new Wilde Jeep Cherokee, but you are wondering how all the tech features work, like how to turn off automatic parking brake assist (parksense) in the 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Luckily, we have compiled an easy how-to guide that should help you understand more about what this feature is exactly and how it works.

What is Parksense and why would I use it?

ParkSense Front and Rear Park Assist is a standard feature that utilizes sensors located in the front and rear of the vehicle to alert you if your vehicle gets too close to an object. Using visual and audible indications between the rear and/or front fascia, the system helps prevent collisions by detecting objects in the vehicle’s path and automatically stopping at low speeds.  If your vehicle has an Automatic Transmission, the brakes may be automatically applied and released if the system detects a possible collision when you are parking in reverse.

  2. When the switch is pushed to disable the system, the display will show “ParkSense Off”
  3. When the gear is the moved into reverse while the system is disabled, the display will show “ParkSense Off.”
  4. ParkSense will only be active when the gear is in Reverse or Drive and only up until the vehicle reaches 7 mph or above. A display warning will indicate that the vehicle is above ParkSense operating speed.
